Leaving CT soon

So, now we've almost spent a week here in Cape Town. It has been great, but we are also looking forward to getting into the 'bush'.

Christian and Thomas spent the weekend doing a 4x4 training course and on Sunday had a fantastic day out with a bunch of local lads from http://www.4x4community.co.za/ . We spent the whole morning driving in sand and mud, and then had a fantastic braai in the afternoon (see pictures). We both managed to get stuck, but certainly learned a lot! Thanks to all the locals, especially Ashley, for this!

Unfortunately Pernille couldn't join us as she has been ill for about three days. But she seems to be coming around :-)

Today we've been whale watching in Hermanus, and saw loads of whales (even if they were quite far away...).

Tommorrow we will go to have a proper dinner, before all the camp cooking, at (reputedly) the best restaurant in South Africa, a place that also features on various lists of the 50 best restaurants in the world. Compared to Denmark it is very cheap, so we need to try it!

Thereafter, we will head north. Test our survival skills and utilise all the trick we've been taught regarding the vehicle.

Arrived in Cape Town (Kapstaden)

We've now been in CT for three days, and are enjoying it massively, even if the first thing that happened here was Thomas VISA card getting devoured by the atm in the airport, luckily we have more.

The last couple of days have been spent exploring the city and shopping for all the gear we need. Prices are very nice, with double gins costing around DKK 6 in the bars, and pints averaging DKK 8 :-)

We've had no problems whatsoever, and people are very friendly and helpful.

Tomorrow we pick up the Hilux 4x4 and will drive around a bit before doing our training over the weekend. We do not know when we will be back on the internet, as it isn't readily available.

Departure time

7 hours to departure, but we are (surprisingly) almost ready. Are just finishing off the packing and doing a bit of final cleaning etc.

Tomorrow around this time, give or take a bit, we'll be in Cape Town. On friday we'll get our Toyota Hilux, the vehicle promised to be more or less indestructable by one Mr. Clarkson on Top Gear http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrk6vsb77xk.

Over the weekend we will then do a bit of 4x4 training around Cape Town. We will then pop by Hermanus to try a bit of Whale Spotting before heading north to Kgalagadi Transfrontier park and Namibia.

Bye all!
